‘The whole world is a single tree, the different countries are the branches,
the roots are Divinity, human beings are the flowers,
happiness is the fruit and the bliss of Self-realization is the sweet juice therein’.
- Sathya Sai
The first South European Education Conference of ISSE SE took place in Italy (November 1st - 3rd, 2019) at the Mother Sai House, the Conference Centre of the Italian SSIO, a splendid location surrounded by greenery in Divignano, (Varallo Pombia, Novara). Teachers, educators, teacher trainers and facilitators experienced in SSEHV, coming from Bosnia, Croatia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia and Switzerland, attended the event.
A hearty welcome on behalf of Mr. George Bebedelis, director of the ISSE SE, and Ms. Fabiana Laruccia, member of Italian branch of ISSE SE – co-organizer and host of the meeting – set the goals and objectives:
The principles of SSEHV highlighted the choice of a new logo for the Institute. It was emphasized how the word EDUCÆRE exemplifies the double root meaning of education, derived from Latin, i.e. to bring up, to nourish and foster with outer information (educare), and to bring out, to draw forth and to elicit the inherent wisdom from within (educere).
The talks that followed portrayed the consistency, continuity and quality of the Institute member countries to make SSEHV known and raise awareness in their communities. The projects, workshops, seminars and educational activities displayed, filled the gathering with enthusiasm and new inspiration.
The presentations ranged from “blossoming classes” for children in Croatia, to workshops for children and youth in Serbia; from private children’s classes in Greece to environmental care workshops in Israel; from human values classes for schools and the workplace in Switzerland, to teacher training courses and community programmes in Italy. Finally, a parallel public outreach programme developed for parents, teachers and children, was shared by the Educare Institute - for the promotion of Human Values in education, a non-profit organization of Slovenia.
During the two-day Conference the newly published part I of the Institute’s handbook “EDUCÆRE - Education for Life", (principles and philosophy), was introduced, informing that part II (practical aspects and lesson plans), is in development. At the close of the meeting the ISSE SE informed of the forthcoming renewal of its website and provided other very useful and inspiring links:
The meeting included musical intervals, practical workshops, group sharing and yoga.
