ISSE SE ONLINE TRAINING COURSE 1

Course 1 – Module 1

“Education has two aspects: the first is related to external and worldly education, which is nothing but acquiring bookish knowledge. In the modern world, we find many, well-versed and highly qualified in this aspect. The second aspect, known as 'Educære', is related to Human Values. The word ‘Educære' means to bring out that which is within. The human values of Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Nonviolence are hidden in every human being. One cannot acquire them from outside; they have to be elicited from within. But as man has forgotten his innate human values, he is unable to manifest them. 'Educære' means to bring out the human values and translate them into action.”

Since February 2021 the Institute of Sathya Sai Education of South Europe (ISSE SE) developed and presented its first ever online Course 1 on Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV), based on the framework and Core Syllabus for all ISSE Training Programmes around the world. The course is being coordinated by a team of fourteen senior SSEHV trainers from Croatia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Serbia, Spain and Switzerland.

Course 1 consists of 3 Modules and introduces the essential spiritual principles of Sathya Sai Philosophy and their application in personal, family, and professional life, especially in the field of education.

COURSE 1 – Module 1

The first two sessions of Module 1 highlighted the philosophy of Sathya Sai Educære, and the Interrelation of the 5 Human Values of Love, Truth, Righteousness, Peace, and Nonviolence. The sessions subsequently explored each of the 5 Human Values in depth, and pin-pointed the importance of the cultivation of Character, the very “end of education” which manifests through the practice of the Values.

Module 1 also gave ample attention to the life and teachings of Sathya Sai, the Founder of SSEHV, and presented an overview of the History of the programme and its implementation worldwide through the activities of numerous Institutes of Sathya Sai Education, Sathya Sai Schools and thousands of Sathya Sai Education in Human Values Programmes.

Furthermore, Module 1 emphasized how teachers are at the heart of SSEHV and must therefore strive to be exemplars of Human Values. In this light SSEHV empowers and reasserts the importance and nobility of their profession. It was likewise stressed how abiding by one’s moral principles and higher ideals is the premise for anyone wishing to promote Human Values at home or in one’s local community.

The sessions were conducted by members of the ISSE SE coordinating team in rotation and included a combination of both theoretical presentations and practical workshops.
